"I LOVE MY UKE! It is beautiful. I just had a moment alone…no kids…no cooking to do…no one else in the house…and I made a bee-line to my uke! I am so thrilled with it. It sounds incredible and looks amazing. I sure was not expecting it for Christmas. Thank you for pulling out all the stops for me. I can't wait to show it off all year long!"

Juno Award winning Melanie Doane is no stranger to the ukulele. The product of a musical family (daughter of uke master Chalmers Doane), Melanie began playing the uke by the time she was 3. It was one of the many instruments that lead to Melanie’s successful career as a singer, songwriter, and musician.

Doane has spent a large portion of the last fifteen years on the road supporting her numerous solo albums. Her breakthrough album ADAM’S RIB achieved multiple top 40 singles (“Adam’s Rib”, “Goliath”, “Waiting For The Tide”, “Happy Homemaker”), a Juno Award for Best New Artist, a Canadian Radio Award for Most Charted Rock Artist, and a Gold record award.

After leaving her record label to pursue her career independently, Melanie’s follow-up YOU ARE WHAT YOU LOVE achieved similar acclaim when its lead single “Still Desire You” spanned multiple radio formats and became a Top 5 hit. Other albums include “A THOUSAND NIGHTS”, which received critical praise and garnered major placements in hit shows like CBC’s Being Erica and CBS’s Flashpoint.

Doane’s latest work THE EMERALD CITY is best described as an emotional journey, chronicling love lost and an understanding of self gained. Like each of Melanie’s releases, it tactfully showcases her multifaceted skills as a vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist (she plays guitar, violin, piano, ukulele, mandolin, and bass – incorporating each into her live show).

With the release of THE EMERALD CITY, Melanie will continue doing what she loves – making great music.
