Sycamore has become a great find for us. Like Myrtle, is a sustainable domestic hardwood. We also think it falls squarely in the middle of our acoustic spectrum.
Aesthetically, it has a dramatic grain structure and is sometimes mistaken for lacewood.
While its balance makes it wonderful in a resonator, it is also a wonderful wood for a classic or 6-string. As the instrument opens up, sycamore delivers wonderful depth, sustain and warmth while retaining the attack of the individual notes. We have constructed instruments using Sycamore as the top as well as the back & sides. The resulting tone is very similar to that of an all-Myrtle or all-Mango instrument.

Common Sycamore
Common Sycamore is used for the Tradition models. It is acoustically equal to higher grades but generally not curly or figured. |
Figured Sycamore
This variety of Sycamore has variable areas that are reminiscent of the spotted big cats of the wild. Some of the spots are elongated and the white background is shimmery.
