Sapele is a very close relative of mahogany, a traditional wood choice for ukuleles. Sapele offers wonderfully warm tones, combined with a beautiful grain structure.
Pictured above is "ribbon sapele" which has gorgeous streaks running vertically through it. The acoustics of sapele give it a wonderful voice with great sustain, which is why it has become one of our standard woods.
