Northwest Aloha Series
All-Myrtle Mya-Moe Ukuleles
In early 2010, Char asked Gordon, "Hey, if we can make great sounding instruments from all koa or all mango, why wouldn't it work with all myrtle?" Gordon's answer, "I don't know. It probably won't work but we should try it to see."
And, the result is amazing. Myrtle is brighter than koa and slightly brighter than mango, but it is still a warm wood (we put it on either 3 or 4 on our tone scale). The depth of tone is wonderful, and it features great sustain. The prevailing word that comes to mind is "balanced."
Myrtle grows plentifully along the Southern Oregon coast, and it is absolutely gorgeous aesthetically, but more important, tonally. It is available in a wide range of color tones and figuring (just look at some examples in the gallery).
In naming it the "Northwest Aloha Series," we honor where the wood grows, and pay homage to the traditional all-koa instrument.
The Northwest Aloha Series can be ordered in any model (e.g., classic, tradition, resonator) and in any of the sizes. Our prototype was a tenor tradition, and it got rave reviews for every person that played it. Standard pricing applies.
Here are a couple of examples of the Northwest Aloha Series:

We have some amazing "chocolate" myrtle on hand available as a Master Grade Myrtle Upgrade.
